The most important role of the Pathology department is "final diagnosis of cancer". Currently, cancer being one of the major diseases with heart attack and cerebrovascular diseases, clinicians from gastroenterology, surgery, gynecology, etc. perform examinations and endoscopy based on diagnostic imaging from X-Ray and CT radiologists to make a "clinical" diagnosis.
However, to treat cancer, it must be diagnosed as a general rule by performing a "pathological inspection".
A clinician examines tissue lesions that were collected in various ways to diagnose wether it is cancerous or not.
It is the "pathologist" who performs this pathological inspection or pathological diagnosis.
Only a very small number of people perform cancer final diagnoses nation-wide, but one of them is working in our hospital.
